51ºÚÁÏ Police Officer Injured In Shooting Near Campus

The investigation continues as the suspect remains at large.

A 51ºÚÁÏ Police officer was critically wounded early this morning in a shooting that happened near the 51ºÚÁÏ campus. The officer, whose identity is not being released at this time, was taken to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

According to Chesterfield County Police, the shooting happened at about 1:34 a.m. when an on-duty 51ºÚÁÏ police officer responded to an on-campus disturbance. The suspect ran off campus before shots were fired, injuring the 51ºÚÁÏ officer. The suspect remains at large.

According to 51ºÚÁÏ Police Chief David Bragg, the campus remains on lockdown as a precaution.
